Bakersfield Boxing Academy began in 2021 with just three punching bags hanging in a backyard. What started as a small effort to teach a few kids how to fight quickly grew as more young people began showing up, eager to learn. With every workout and every sparring session, the gym developed into more than just a training space—it became a family.
That same year, we entered our first national tournament in Arizona, setting the tone for what was to come. Since then, our fighters have competed and sparred in cities across Tijuana, Las Vegas, Fresno, Madera, and Los Angeles, representing Bakersfield with heart and determination.
From three bags in the backyard, we now have a full gym with over 14 heavy bags, two boxing rings, and a team of 10 active competition fighters—plus many more kids who come to train, learn, and grow. Every single fighter in our program is a young athlete, and our focus remains on helping kids build discipline, dedication, and resilience that carries far beyond the boxing ring.

At Bakersfield Boxing Academy, our mission is to help kids grow into champions both inside and outside the ring. Through discipline, dedication, and hard work, we teach young athletes the values of perseverance and respect—building not only skilled fighters but also strong, confident individuals prepared to face life’s challenges.
Community & Nonprofit Commitment
Bakersfield Boxing Academy is proud to be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, officially recognized in 2024. From the beginning, our mission has gone beyond boxing—we are dedicated to giving kids the tools to chase their dreams while staying disciplined, focused, and connected to their community.
In just one year, our team has organized and completed over five car washes, a community fireworks stand, and multiple burrito sales—all with the kids working side by side to raise funds for travel, training, and competitions. These efforts not only support our fighters but also teach responsibility, teamwork, and the value of hard work.
We look forward to continuing to engage with the community of Bakersfield—the city we love—and providing opportunities for our youth to grow as athletes and as leaders.
